Alison has been a commercial litigator for more than a decade. Her practice spans business torts, securities litigation and employment.
Alison has represented companies and individuals before state and federal courts, various arbitration forums, self-regulatory organizations, and state and federal agencies. She has experience researching and drafting briefs, discovery demands, taking depositions and oral argument. Alison is also a certified Mediator in Westchester and Rockland Counties, New York.
Alison is a refugee from New York big law. She was an associate at Nixon Peabody LLP and Butzel Long, where she worked on complex commercial cases, including federal securities, civil RICO, fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, employment discrimination, and non-compete matters.
In 2010, Alison moved with her litigation team to Gusrae Kaplan Nusbaum PLLC, a Wall Street boutique securities firm, where she became counsel. As her family grew, Alison faced the challenge of many of her peers: whether to commit to a firm as a part-time attorney or take herself out of the profession for a few years. She wanted neither. Part-time was a misnomer and she missed the challenges of complex commercial litigation. Alison joined Shapiro Litigation Group in January 2017 and hasn’t looked back: She loves being in the arena of providing high-quality legal services on sophisticated matters, while, at the same time, achieving that once elusive work-life balance.
When Alison is not researching, drafting or strategizing on client matters, she can be found volunteering as a community mediator in Westchester County, as well as mediating sibling disputes at home.
